FAQ


1. How does online tutoring work?
 

Student logs in at our website. He can proceed to the lesson plan that has been drawn up for him in view of the topics covered in his school. This plan may be amended from time to time to take into account his pace of learning and his strengths and weaknesses. He can proceed to download the materials needed for his current lesson. He can also provide further information about himself to request for amendments to his lesson plan.

The student can also choose to interact with a teacher who is online at that time. Based on the materials that the student has downloaded, the teacher can provide further explanations and guide the student along his learning path and set exercises for him to do. If there are questions the student is unable to do, the teacher can explain how they can be solved. Modifications may be made to his lesson plan, e.g. more worksheets on a topic if a student is weaker or more difficult worksheets if a student is strong in that topic. Alternatively, the student can also ask the teacher other questions, e.g. help on school work, school papers or assessment books, etc.
Interaction will be primarily through Yahoo messenger, with the assistance of a shared whiteboard where necessary. Students can choose to fax (or email) over his work for marking if he wishes.
 

2. What equipment / technology do I need?

  • A computer with internet access

  • Yahoo Messenger installed on the computer. Click here to download.

  • Headset with a microphone for conversing (cost about $10-30).

  • Digital pen tablet (optional) for ease of writing certain symbols (can be procured online from amazon or computer shops, price range $60-$150)

3. How do I register for the service?

We currently do not allow online registration. The registration must be done at one of our branches.
 

4. What if I made an appointment but did not log in at the appointment time?
A record is kept on such “no show” incidents. A student who has more “no show” incidents will be given lower priority in future appointments.

5. How do I cancel an appointment made?
Cancellations can be made on our website and must be made 24 hrs before the appointed time.

6. How do I terminate the service?
Please email us at wecare@onlinetuition.com.sg by stating your name and your wish to terminate. 2 weeks’ notice period is required. This email must be sent from your email account registered with us.
